Boyd Tinsley

Boyd Tinsley (Boyd Calvin Tinsley) was the final founding member to join Dave Matthews Band in 1991. Boyd Tinsley was invited to record the demo for “Tripping Billies” and joined the band as a full-time member later that year.
Boyd Tinsley, Carter Beauford (Drums), and the late Leroi Moore (Saxophone) all grew up on the same block in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Legend has it that while he was attending Junior High School, Boyd Tinsley signed up to take a strings class with the impression that he would learn to play guitar. Instead, the class was actually for the orchestra. Boyd took to the violin and neverĀ looked back.

Boyd Tinsley sits on the honorary board of the Andy Roddick Foundation andĀ supports charities such as Feed the Children, the Charlottseville-Albermarle Food Bank, The Salvation Army, The Red Cross, the Coalition to Salute American Heroes, and Bama Works.
