Before the 2012 Dave Matthews Band Summer Tour was to begin, Dave Matthews Band performed a soundcheck at “Woodlands” in the suburb of Houston, Texas. A DMB fan captured some teaser video footage from the gate of the venue which sounds pleasantly crisp, considering how far removed the spies were from the action. These short clips include our first listen of full-band renditions of the songs ‘Sweet’ and the “New Album” song, ‘Mercy.’ Enjoy the videos!

Boyd Tinsley was on TMZ last week – a busy week in the worlds of Dave Matthews Band fans. We received the official announcement of a new Dave Matthews Band album releasing in 2012, with Steve Lillywhite tapped as producer. We also received the Dave Matthews Band tour dates for the Summer of 2012. Some of these topics were mentioned in this TMZ interview with Boyd, which is just funny to look at… Boyd Handled the reporter/fan with prototypical DMB class.

If there isn’t a new Dave Matthews Band album being recorded in 2012 with Steve Lillywhite producing, then us fans are reading far too deep into the tweets. In the tweets (pictured) Lillywhite seems pumped about traveling “west for a while” and Stefan tweeted about heading up to Seattle after New Years Eve. The tweets alone are nothing to write blog about… but my grapevine was also buzzing about the January 2012 studio sessions with Lillywhite before I noticed the tweets. Though I try not to post rumors on this site, seemingly enough info is out there to place Dave Matthews Band in the studio with Steve Lillywhite next week.
Edit: The album has been confirmed by the band to be released in 2012 and produced by Lillywhite.
