Dave Matthews Band Caravan Randall’s Island (Sep 16 – 18)

The Dave Matthews Band Caravan has been moved to Randalls Island. Due to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene, the Band and management was faced a tough decision and made a great one for the fans. The DMB Caravan at Randall’s Island will consist of another 3-days (September 16, September 17 and September 18). In essence, the DMB Caravan at Governors Island was free for all attendees. Those who attended Friday’s show at Governors may use their tickets again for the Friday show at Randall’s.

The official Caravan website states:
“The New York DMB Caravan has been rescheduled to September 16th, 17th and 18th and relocated to Randall’s Island just off Manhattan on the East River. In addition to Dave Matthews Band’s nightly headline set, Dispatch will perform on Friday and Saturday, the 16th and 17th. The line-up for Randall’s Island will be announced soon.”

DMB Caravan Governors Island Saturday – Sunday Postponed

The DMB Caravan shows on Saturday and Sunday have officially been postponed. Surprisingly this news was served via the DMB Caravan Page on Facebook a short time ago:

“Ticket holders for Saturday and Sunday are invited to attend the Friday event tomorrow at Governors Island. The Governor of New York has issued a state emergency, therefore the DMB Caravan events on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th have been postponed. We will announce the new Caravan Governors Island dates as soon as they have been confirmed. We will continue to post updates to the Caravan site as they are confirmed.”

DMB Caravan Governors Island: Saturday – Sunday Likely To Be Cancelled

Though there has not been an official announcement, both the Saturday and Sunday DMB Caravan at Governors Island will likely likely be cancelled due to Hurricane Irene. Governor Andrew Cuomo has already declared a state of emergency in New York. Earlier today, the official DMB site announceed:

“All single day ticket holders for Sunday’s DMB Caravan Festival are invited to attend either Friday or Saturday’s event on Governors Island. This opportunity is being offered in light of the current weather forecast.”

Based on NYC’s evacuation plans and planned mass-transit changes (decided partly to prevent damage to trains), it should be okay to assume that Sunday will be scratched and likely Saturday (for both damage prevention and safety). Please remember: none of the shows have been officially cancelled or postponed.

Among other things, LeRoi Holloway Moore was a founding member and the horn player of Dave Matthews Band. ‘Roi’s spirit and legacy lives on through his music. Here we pay tribute to Leroi Moore through videos. The most professional video tribute to Leroi appears on LeroiMoore.com. May ‘Roi continue to rest in peace.

Carter Beauford Plays Guitar – Video

Before seeing this video I had never seen Carter Beauford playing guitar (or any other non-percussion instrument). Here we see the master working on Why I Am with “Big Whiskey” producer Rob Cavallo. Another highlight from this short clip is from a different segment where Dave humbly asks the room “Why can’t I play the guitar anymore?” See the rest in this hysterical video.
