The Dave Matthews Band fan community has been abuzz about the Phillip Phillips Dave Matthews mannerisms on American Idol. Here are a few clips including Phil Phillips lesser seen solo performance where his Dave-esque´ dancing and facial expressions show how much of an influence Dave Matthews has been to his budding musical career. After a few performances, and following Phillips’ cover performance of “In the Air Tonight” (originally by Phil Collins), Judge Randy Jackson mentioned that Phillips reminds him of Dave. A few weeks later, Phillip Phillips covered the Dave Matthews Band song, ‘The Stone.’ Phillips Phillips’ raw talent carried him to be the winner of American Idol in 2012. Dave Matthews commented in an interview that he had not seen Phillip Phillips perform, and joked about Phillips imitating him. In this vintage video from 2009, Rashawn Ross jumps in and sings vocals during Robert Randolph’s “Golddigger interpolation” within Louisiana Bauou. Dave Matthews and Robert Randolph finished the song as Randolph smirkingly took part Dave’s last verse. Enjoy the video!

A few years back, Dave Matthews, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer band covered Neil Young’s Heart of Gold at the concert for Katrina at Madison Square Garden. Great video and awesome song. This is must see for those who may have missed it.
