No Dave Matthews Band Tour Dates in 2011 (Hiatus)

What was a rumored break is no longer a rumor. Dave Matthews Band will not tour in 2011. (Update) Though the band is not playing a nation-wide tour in 2011, Dave Matthews Band will instead be headlining four “Dave Matthews Band Caravan” festivals during the summer of 2011. Please share your thoughts by leaving a comment.

Everybody needs a vacation, I have always wanted to go to Burning Man but Dave is always around the same time so I have never gone, this hiatus gives me that opportunity b/c I don’t know if I could ever pass up Dave to go
I’ve only been a staunch concert attender every year since 2005 when I first learned of you. I’ve often worried about the health of the you guys and Dave’s strenuous workout on those vocal chords and have been amazed at his recovery (especially after “American Baby Intro” I mean what could She have said 100 or 1000 times that causes him to do that to himself). But I’ve been expecting this sooner or later because who can just keep going without feeling the fatigue. With all that you guys have been experiencing (personal and band issues), it’s time to just chill. But secretly I know you will not. Dave has other projects in the works and I don’t think any of the guys will pass up playing with their own idols if asked to. So I know they’ll keep busy if they want. Besides it’s a great opportunity to visit some of the tour states & countries for an actual VACATION! How it will affect me?: Cool, it’ll be $75 bucks I get to keep in my pocket. Haha. But I’ll survive on the bands many dvd’s and cd’s. Thanks guys…enjoy. I’ll see you at “Hollywood Bowl”.
Next summer will be fine without Dave driving his bus all over the country contributing to global warming. Let him ride his bike a bit like he wants the rest of us to do. What’s good for the gander is good for the goose….BB
Comment not so much related to the 2011 break but more so for the song selection on current tour. Why is the band repeating so many songs…….even on back to back shows? With so much to choose from, it sort of sucks for folks touring to keep hearing the same old same old.
Maybe their saving everything for the end of tour??? Mix it up guys……
I’m enjoying hearing some of the older stuff. I’ve actually heard them play songs this year that theyve never played. Ive seen them since 1999 in different cities, but mainly atlanta, and I will miss them next year. But I won’t complain. Enjoy the break. Already saw them a few months back, but glad i snatched up those Phillips Arena tickets for November! Thanks Dave…
And Ive seen them since 1998, Melkweg Amsterdam.
And now, the band needs a break.
I totally agree.
But if they have other projects outside DMB, only within one year,
I really hope, they will return in 2011!
And, to continue with only 4 guy’s in those big arenas, and stadiums…wow.
That would be only the sound of: 1 acoustic guitar, 1 acoustic violin, 1 electric bass, and a drumkit!
No hornsection, and Loud Guitars.
So how will they return in 2011?
Tim learned so much from this, but again in 2011?
I really hope so.
Or maybe a new bandformation?
Maybe with Butch Taylor?
That would be cool again!
Indeed, same songs again?
Or maybe a new album?
And everything, rehearsals, recordings, + a vacation in one year?
Well Dave and the rest, not so much rest next year!!!
We hope the best.
Have fun Guys.
And bless Y’alllll!
They deserve a break…but will be missed this year……
I love Dave, 2010 at Riverbend was the first DMB concert I attended and I was looking forward to attending one in 2011. You all will be missed in cincinnati this year.
My favorite group from all of history since 1993. There is nothing anywhere like you guys for me. Thank you.
Dave Matthews Band is the soundtrack to most things in my life… Every member of the band is so talented and so unique and the connection between the bandmates is so special (you can even tell from the lawn where I am usually stationed). The connection the band has with their fans is also very unique.. most enthusiasts I talk too have agreed that the boys deserve a break from the road, and even though they will be missed all summer long, there is a general consensus between true fans that we can take a summer off.. now when 2012 rolls around, the heat will be on, the band and fans will be rested and ready to go! If there are random dates where they will perform this summer, the fans will travel far and wide to see their beloved DMB.
I am totally bummed. I have been going every year since 1996. Now I have to find a way to get to one of these shows!!!! I need my DMB fix!!!!
Well I am really very sad that there wont be a tour this year because I didn’t get to go last year and I went the two previous years, and the concerts were amazing. I love DMB and not sure I can go two years without seeing them. I hate that these caravan concerts are so far away. I live in Florida and I can’t really afford to fly or drive to one of these shows and pay for a hotel and everything….so it really sucks….I know the guys need a break from touring to spend time with family and just relax, but it sucks. I am very sad and I hope that they do tour next year so that I can def. go. Love you DMB….
I am that when you have families you need a break to stay closer to home and such. Now I have to be selfish and say that I can speak for many that we would love to see Dave and the band tour close to some military bases in Germany. There are so many americans around here that would love the opportunity. PLEASE come to Europe next year…. Your abroad fans miss you!!
You guys more than deserve time off. DMB has gotten me through every good time, bad time, and all the times in between. Nothing in the world compares to what Dave Matthews Band does to inspire me in my music and my life. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
